# Check and run apps

Source: https://docs.myhub.host/apps

## Find and open your app

```sh
hub apps
hub app my-app open
```

Replace `my-app` with the name shown in the list. You can also open it in [Cloud Dashboard](https://cloud.myhub.host/dashboard).

## Check its health

```sh
hub app my-app status
```

Check the release and service states. Use [logs](https://docs.myhub.host/logs) if something is wrong.

The release shown by `hub apps` and status is the serving release. A newer failed attempt appears separately, so a failed release 2 does not replace serving release 1. Before any release has run, there is no serving release. See [JSON fields](https://docs.myhub.host/automation#read-serving-and-latest-releases) for scripts.

## Restart an app

```sh
hub app my-app restart
hub app my-app status
```

Restart uses the current build. To publish changed files, run `hub deploy` from the project folder.

Start, stop, restart, and [suspend](https://docs.myhub.host/deploy/runtime#pause-an-eligible-app) wait for completion by default, including with `--json` and MCP. Use `--no-wait` to return an operation ID immediately, then [poll the operation](https://docs.myhub.host/automation#wait-for-lifecycle-operations).

## Take an app offline

```sh
hub app my-app stop
```

Run `hub app my-app start` to bring it back. Deploying a new release also starts it.

To remove an app and every instance, use **Delete** on its dashboard page or `hub app my-app rm`. Ordinary app deletion retains volumes by default; selecting **Also delete the data** removes them. Recreating the same name starts with separate data, and neither the CLI nor dashboard offers a restore operation. Read [storage and deletion](https://docs.myhub.host/deploy/storage#remove-an-app) before deleting.
